In 1997 New York has become an enormous security jail where the worst prisoners roam freely. Due to a glitch which happened during surveillance of the city, the President of The United States ends up in the hands of the prisoners. Life convict and war veteran, Snake Plissken, is sent to save the President in exchange for his release. He has 24 hours to complete his mission. If he does not succeed, a device will blow him up. Successfully facing insuperable situations, Snake is able to complete the mission and concludes the story with a touch of irony. Instead of handing over the tape of worldwide importance to the President, he hands him a tape of jazz music which is aired for the worldwide.

This movie was a phenomena of the 1980s, and marked a collective image both for its reconstruction of New York set in the future, and Snake Plissken’s character. The poster is precisely based on these two elements. It shows a dark setting, a scene of devastation and ruin, including the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty that became en emblem, and Snake stands out with all his iconic attributes (eye-patch, snake tattoo, protruding muscles) in a pose which is so typical of action movie heroes. It is a splendid execution of work hallmarked by Renato Casaro.
